The contrast between the old man and the new man has so
often interpreted as the contrast between the new man and the old man in the
believer. This struggle experienced by believers because they do not
understand Paul's point about the putting off old man and the putting on of a
new man, so that the church is not growing as God wants. Therefore the aim of this paper is: Firstly, analyze biblical about the putting
off old man and the putting off a new man based on the perspective of Ephesians
4: 17-32; Second, to determine whether the old man and the new man, both
owned by the trust; Third, know the theological and practical implications of the putting
on of a new man is based on Letter of Ephesians 4: 17-32.
Conclusions of writing “Biblical
Analysis of putting off Old man and the putting on New Man Based on The Ephesians
4: 17-32 are as follows. First, Putting off the old man means people believe abandon evil and sin in
which believers no longer live like people who do not know God and live far
from fellowship with God. Second, Putting off old man and the putting on of new man declared
new status in Christ. Third, the status of believer to be a new man is once and for all,
but the process of becoming a new man is events are constantly updated to
likeness with Him in accordance with His will. Fourth, the theological implications
regarding the putting off the old man and the putting on a new man are: 1) The
events of sanctification which occurs once in the life of believers, however
continuing the resulting impact from the termination of the old man to live the
new man in Christ; 2) Process of living a new life is a moment in which the
believer is constantly renewed by the Holy Spirit to generate new life; 3) The new man is a new creation that is likeness to His
image. 4) The new man is the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives
of believers. Fifth, the practical implications regarding the putting of the old
man and the putting on new man is the responsibility of believers who
understand the new status in Christ and expressed repentance in his life
accompanied by renewal of mind as thought Christ and do counsels new life
practices such as telling the truth, to be a blessing, tell the truth and
holiness through righteous anger, do not grieve the Holy Spirit by removing evil
and wearing love in Christ.
