Burning Ones

There is a comparison drawn in the Word of God between
burning and living fully for God. There is something in the very nature of God
that burns. It is this aspect of Himself that will be reflected in the army
that He is calling forth across the earth. Becoming one of God’s Burning Ones
is tangible, attainable and necessary.
Psalm 97:3-6 describes God this way:
Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side.
His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains
melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens
proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory. - Psalm 97:3-6
And then the description of the coming army in Joel 2:
A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never
been; Nor will there ever be any such after them, Even for many successive
generations. A fire devours before them, And behind them a flame burns; The
land is like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate
wilderness; Surely nothing shall escape them. Their appearance is like the
appearance of horses; And like swift steeds, so they run. With a noise like
chariots Over mountaintops they leap, Like the noise of a flaming fire that
devours the stubble, Like a strong people set in battle array. Before them the
people writhe in pain; All faces are drained of color. They run like mighty
men, They climb the wall like men of war; Every one marches in formation, And
they do not break ranks. They do not push one another; Every one marches in his
own column. Though they lunge between the weapons, They are not cut down. -
Joel 2:2-8
If you are going to burn the way He burns, if you are going
to burn the way He has called his army to burn, then you need to understand how
to start burning and keep burning.
Fire starts inside of you when you ask God into your life.
God is fire. He places a fire in you but it is up to you to fan the flame to
keep the fire burning. A fire needs fuel to burn. The Word of God acts as a
catalyst for the fire and the Holy Spirit in you acts as the wind that keeps
the fire burning. Why is fire necessary? God’s intent is to burn up everything
in you and around you that gets in the way of you loving Him and following Him
fully. And don’t forget fire is hot and can be painful, but it is always good –
it gets rid of the junk to make room for more of Him. Only from that place can
you become the army seen in Joel 2. They are focused and strong. They are
courageous and know where they are going. They recognize their enemies and they
are on a mission…nothing can stop them. That is the purpose of the fire – to
bring you to the same place.
God has already placed a hunger in you for Him. Much like
life, if you are hungry you go in search of food until you find it. When there
is a hunger in you for God you must go in search of the food to feed the hunger
– If you want the fire you must go after it, laying all else aside until you
find it. It is not enough to long for it – the food will not find you! Nor will
the fire!
One of our young men recently had a dream: In the dream he
was dreaming that his alarm clock went off three times, then as he was waking
up he realized his alarm was really going off. He shut it off and went back to
sleep as he did he asked the Lord, “What was that about?” The Lord spoke to him
and said, “It’s time to wake up”. We are living in a time in which it is time
to wake up! Get yourself out of the ‘sleeping’ state and go after what you
want. God is looking for those who want the fire – those who want to be part of
His army – those who want to change the world – those who desire Him above all
else. He is looking for those who will recognize that they have a
responsibility to wake themselves up, get up, and go after the fire. It is no
longer okay to sit and wait for God to come to you. He already came. He did His
part.
In the last month we have been experiencing a fresh release
of God’s presence. There are young people who have given up everything and have
cried out for Him and they are experiencing visitations. God has been taking
them into Heaven and showing them His plans for this generation, for their
lives. Some have had their eyes opened and now see angels as you and I see each
other.
Last week, one young lady was taken to Heaven and there
Jesus showed her the Burning Ones. Most of them were sitting down. In Heaven
she began to cry out to them to get up. As she came out of the visitation her
words to me were, “Linda, they have to get it – they have to get up. Linda,
they have to get it, they have to get up. They are sitting down.” Nobody can
make you get out of bed. Nobody can make you do anything. There has to come a time
in which you choose to get up and run. You have to choose to let God burn in
you. You choose to lay your life down and BURN for the plans of Heaven. 2
Chronicles 16:9 says it like this, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro
throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose
heart is loyal to Him.” God longs to be kind to a generation. He longs for a
generation that understands and knows His compassion and love.
One of our adult leaders was praying this morning and had a
vision and emailed me the poem he wrote based on what he had seen. The email
came while I was in the middle of writing this article. I think it speaks for
itself.
